apud Plin. l. 21. c. 4. ubi de rosa: Quô mox intumescente et in virides alabastros fastigatô, paulatm rubescens dehiscit, ac sese pandit in calices, mediô sui stantes amplexa luteos apices; proprie flos dicitur Vopisco in Aurcliano: c. 5. a calice, quô bibitur, Graece κήλυξ, a cuiusmodi calicum similitudine, in floribus dicti calices, quos calathos etiam aliis appellatos supta vidimus. Aliter in Narcisso, ubi idem Plinius calicem vocat purpureum illus vel croceum, quod intus habet, quodque effigie calicis est et velut corona, quae in orbem currit croceum; florem vero, quae in ambitu sunt candida folia. At calix, Graece κάλυξ, inter alia, significat florem rosae adhuc conniventem et nondum apertum. Hesych. Κάλυξ, τὸ ἀνθος τȏυ ῥόδου, τὸ μὴ ενπεταςθ ὲν. Glossae, conivum, κάλυξ ῥόδου, μεμυκὸς.
